'Just keep pushing, keep pushing forward and you will succeed'
George Saunders 2008
The ‘Roots to Youts’ film project was inspired by the life experiences of West Indian Tailor, George Saunders-exploring hardship and his legacy left with the National Trust, at the Back to Back Houses.
‘Roots to Youts’ is part of the Whose Story? Project and saw young people from Harborne Hill School, Birmingham and older people from Workers Educational Association, Birmingham coming together to creatively share their personal experiences, diversity and family histories; creating oral history. They were supported through a series of workshops by Poet; Kimberley Trusty, Filmaker; Sima Gonsai and The Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The complete film can be viewed at the Back to Back Houses.
The Whose Story? project is an exciting initiative which aims to attract new audiences from diverse backgrounds to National Trust properties through access, events and cultural heritage.
