One of the most famous and evocative moated castles in Britain, Bodiam was built in 1385, as both a defence and a comfortable home for Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a soldier of fortune. The exterior is virtually complete with ramparts rising dramatically above the moat and inside there are spiral staircases and battlements to explore.
Bodiam Castle is often used by education groups in term time. The only WC is located in the car park, 400yds from the castle entrance
