    Brockhampton walks

Four circular walks from 1 mile to 4 ½ miles through a beautiful, timeless landscape of rolling meadows, ancient woods and flower filled orchards.

On the walks you will have a chance to see some of the sculptures on the Estate, each one depicting a part of the history of the Estate and the local area.

The Sculpture Trail Project began in 1995 to celebrate the National Trust’s Centenary. The aim was to engage children and teenagers in an exploration of their locality. Many of the sculptures show methods of work from the past. The idea was that local school children and other groups could work with sculptures to enhance their understanding of local history. Harold the Shire was made from a windblown Oak and is a full size replica.

Ash Walk – 1 mile, waymarked in blue
This track has been surfaced to improve access for all and leads past the Lawn Pool and through ancient oaks that have stood for over 500 years.

Holly Walk - 1 ½ waymarked in red
Leads past the Lawn Pool through ancient oaks, ash and deep wooded valleys.

Beech Walk, 2 miles waymarked in yellow
Through Beech trees with views of Brockhampton House and the surrounding countryside.

Oak Walk, 4 ½ miles waymarked in green
This longer walk leads past old parkland trees and conifer plantations with views of the surrounding countryside.

To avoid harm to farm animals and wildlife, please keep your dogs under strict control – and on leads where there are animals grazing.

Leaflets are available from the property. Parts of the walks can be muddy and slippery, and steep in places, so do wear appropriate footwear.
