About this property Brownsea Island is dramatically located in Poole Harbour, offering spectacular views across to Studland, Old Harry Rocks and the Purbeck Hills. This unspoilt setting offers an escape from the noise and stress of modern life, making it a great location for walks, picnics and exploring. Thriving natural habitats, including woodlands, heathland and lagoon, create a haven for wildlife such as the rare red squirrel and a large variety of birds and insects. Visitors to the island will be fascinated by its rich history, including daffodil farming, pottery works and acting as a decoy to protect Poole in the Second World War. Robert Baden-Powell held the first experimental Scout camp here in 1907, and the island is now known worldwide as the birthplace of Scouting and Guiding.
