We are making big changes here at Castle Drogo, the aim is to improve our environmental preformance, provide better facilities for visitors and to ultimately protect the castle.
How are we doing this?
- A sustainable heating system
We are reducing our reliance on fossil fuels for heating by replacing an oil fired system with a boiler fuelled by woodchip.
- New visitor facilities
We are extending the existing reception building to improve the tea room, toilets and shop so your visit is more enjoyable. It will be possible to use the new re-surfaced car park and visitor facilities all year round.
- Protecting the Castle
Removing the boilers and kitchens from the castle will reduce the risk of fire in the castle and help conserve the fabric of the historic building.
