The grassy hillside is a great place to discover butterflies and wild flowers in summer. It's a top spot for a picnic lunch and running about in the fresh air all year round!
Walking
Enjoy a gentle ¼ mile stroll along footpaths leading up to the Cerne Giant from both the picturesque village of Cerne Abbas and the viewing area off the main road. Sweeping views of Dorset's rolling countryside and the remains of an Iron Age earthwork are revealed at the top.
Other recreational activities
The giant's chalk grassland hillside is awash with colourful wild flowers in summer, like birdsfoot trefoil, early purple orchid, cowslip, common spotted orchid and field scabious. These attract lots of butterflies, including common blue, small heath and marsh fritillery.
