Surrounded by 500 acres of historic parkland, Chirk Castle has been sitting on top of its hill, guarding the approach to the picturesque Ceiriog Valley and Vale of Llangollen, for over 700 years.

During its long colourful history, Chirk Castle has played host to lavish entertainments and glittering house parties. Guests have included internationally renowned artists, writers and musicians, not to mention the odd king and queen.
Today, let Chirk Castle’s Chapel or thatched Hawk House, along with over 5 acres of exquisitely landscaped gardens, form the backdrop to your very own fairytale wedding.

The Chapel
Ceremonies can take place in the Chapel, which dates back to the 15th century and still retains much of its Medieval atmosphere with monumental arched windows and exposed wooden beams.

The Hawkhouse
For a more unusual venue for your ceremony, the thatched Hawk House is a pretty summerhouse, complete with trailing creepers, and enjoying stunning views of the surrounding countryside. As its name suggests, the thatched Hawk House was once home to the Castle's birds of prey.

When can civil wedding ceremonies be held at Chirk?
Ceremonies can take place from March to October, either before 12am or after 5pm.
Receptions
The Tudor Great Chamber is available for receptions of up to 70 guests. Please note that, due to the historic nature and location of the room, we regret we are unable to accommodate discos or dancing.
