Clandon Park was built circa 1730 for the 2nd Lord Onslow by Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni. One of the country's most complete example of a Palladian mansion, it contains a superb collection of 18th-century furniture, porcelain and textiles, much of which was acquired in the 1920s by connoisseur Mrs Gubbay. While the wider parkland is still in the hands of the Onslow family, the mansion is set in intimate gardens which are home to a Maori meeting house, brought back from New Zealand in 1892. The Onslow family is unique in providing three Speakers of the House of Commons
- Be awed by the stunning two-storey white marble hall.
- Enjoy the informal gardens, including the secluded sunken Dutch Garden.
- Take in a wealth of ceramics, tapestries and furniture.
Events include 'Waking Up Clandon' (28 February and 7 March) and 'Putting the House to Bed' (7, 14, 21 November). Re-enactments, children's activities, conservation demonstrations, behind-the-scenes tours
