We’ve explained why we think this project can both benefit the local community and provide funds to guarantee Erddig’s future.
A lot of time has been spent listening to the views of our neighbours in Rhostyllen. Many like our plans, and the local council is enthusiastic. Others disagree.
They say only affordable housing is needed and that the Trust, as a conservation body, should never build on green land – even if it is less than 0.01 per cent of our total land-holding.
They’re campaigning to stop the project. We respect their feelings. But we also know that if they succeed, the long-term impact on Erddig would be disastrous.
We believe this proposal is fully in line with our long and glorious history of defending green spaces, and with the wishes of Erddig’s generous donor, Phillip Yorke.
The National Trust has always relied on the enthusiasm of an army of generous supporters and volunteers. We need your support now.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions.
