Arctic terns protect their eggs and young chicks by dive-bombing any humans who get too close... including the National Trust wardens who look after and monitor them!

Every year about 2,500 Arctic tern return to the Farnes to breed and fledge their young. Their favourite nesting spots are on and near the public footpaths and courtyard outside the visitor centre on Inner Farne.
