|
Admission Prices
A separate admission fee is payable for each island - tickets are bought from a National Trust warden on landing on each island. Boat fees do not include island admission. Boat tickets may be bought from one of four boat companies at kiosks in Seahouses harbour. National Trust members get free entry to the islands, but not the boat trip. Contact us in advance for group booking and prices. |
| |
|
Important Note
From April to July, Arctic terns nest near pathways on Inner Farne. They can be very defensive of their eggs or chicks. Expect to be dive-bombed, but do not panic, just slowly wave a hand above your head to discourage them. Bring a wide-brimmed hat or baseball cap to help protect yourself, no hard helmets please. |
| |
|
WCs
Basic WCs on Inner Farne. No WCs on Staple Island. WCs (not NT) in the centre of Seahouses, 5 minutes walk uphill from the harbour. |
| |
|
Families & children
Baby-changing facilities at WCs (not NT) near Seahouses harbour. |
| |
|
Dogs
Dogs are not allowed on to the Farne Islands to prevent disturbance of rare wildlife, especially breeding seabirds in spring and summer, and breeding seals in autumn. Well-behaved dogs can be left on the boat when you visit the islands. |
| |
|
Picnic areas
Enjoy fantastic views towards Bamburgh Castle from a picnic area near the lighthouse on Inner Farne. Please take your litter home with you. |
| |
|
Refreshments
Plenty of fish and chip shops, cafés and pubs in Seahouses, but nowhere to buy food or drink on the islands. Bring a bottle of water, flask of tea or snack to keep you going for a few hours. |
| |
|
Shopping
National Trust guide books, postcards and leaflets are available from the visitor centre on Inner Farne.
For a full selection of gifts and books, there is a National Trust shop in the centre of Seahouses, 16 Main Street, five minutes walk from the harbour. |
| |
|
Visitor centre
Visitor centre on Inner Farne highlights the islands' latest wildlife sightings, and tells the story of the people who have lived here, from St Cuthbert in the 7th century, to the National Trust's wardens today. |
| |
|
