A separate admission fee is payable for each island - tickets are bought from a National Trust warden on landing on each island. Boat fees do not include island admission. Boat tickets may be bought from one of four boat companies at kiosks in Seahouses harbour. National Trust members get free entry to the islands, but not the boat trip. Contact us in advance for group booking and prices.

    Note  Important Note
From April to July, Arctic terns nest near pathways on Inner Farne. They can be very defensive of their eggs or chicks. Expect to be dive-bombed, but do not panic, just slowly wave a hand above your head to discourage them. Bring a wide-brimmed hat or baseball cap to help protect yourself, no hard helmets please.

    WC  WCs
Basic WCs on Inner Farne. No WCs on Staple Island. WCs (not NT) in the centre of Seahouses, 5 minutes walk uphill from the harbour.

Families and children  Families & children
Baby-changing facilities at WCs (not NT) near Seahouses harbour.

    Dogs  Dogs
Dogs are not allowed on to the Farne Islands to prevent disturbance of rare wildlife, especially breeding seabirds in spring and summer, and breeding seals in autumn. Well-behaved dogs can be left on the boat when you visit the islands.

    Picnics  Picnic areas
