    Weddings at Gawthorpe Hall

    Gawthorpe Hall is an impressive Elizabethan house set in tranquil grounds in the heart of urban Lancashire.

    The historic Great Barn at Gawthorpe offers the perfect setting for your wedding day. With a cathedral-like atmosphere and boasting a 100ft-long aisle, it provides a stunning venue for your celebrations.

    The Great Barn can be converted easily from holding a ceremony to hosting a reception. And the ornamental lawns with the magnificent backdrop of Gawthorpe Hall provide a beautiful setting for your wedding photographs.

    You are assured of personal and unhurried celebrations as we offer only one wedding per day.

    The Great Barn

    The Great Barn is an unusual aisled threshing barn dating from 1605. It retains many original historic features including the stone-based aisle posts which support the massive roof timbers. There is under floor heating to keep your guests warm. The barn is licensed to hold civil marriages and partnerships, and afternoon and evening receptions for up to 250 guests.

    • Price: £950 - £1,250 + VAT (ceremony hire only)
      £2,500 + VAT (ceremony and reception hire)

    When can civil wedding ceremonies be held at Gawthorpe Hall?

    The Great Barn is available Monday to Saturday from May to September.

    The Courtyard

    The Courtyard outside the Great Barn also makes a lovely setting for a drinks reception.

    Photography

    The gardens and grounds of Gawthorpe Hall are available for photographs with permission of Lancashire County Council (who lease the Hall from the National Trust) and for a donation of £50.

    Unfortunately Gawthorpe Hall is currently not taking bookings for weddings due to forthcoming renovation works.
