Gibside Larder compliments the existing gift shop and tea-room, providing local residents and visitors the chance to purchase some of the region’s finest award winning food, as well as an extensive range of gifts.
Open seven days a week, the shop aims to support National Trust tenant farmers regionally and nationally, as well as local food producers. Some of the fine produce on offer will include award winning beef and lamb reared on the National Trust’s Wallington Estate, the largest of the Trust's agricultural estates, as well as local, seasonal fruit and vegetables, including organically grown 18th century varieties of fruit and vegetables from Gibside’s Walled Garden (when supply allows).
Highlights of the Larder include:
- Beef and lamb born and bred on the Wallington Estate
- Award winning dry and sweet cured bacon
- Other local produce
- Cakes and scones freshly made at Gibside
- Fresh bread and pies
- Locally grown and milled flour
- Honey and mustard
- Extra virgin rapeseed oil, grown, cold pressed and bottled in Northumberland
- A range of regional cheeses
- Fresh milk, cream and free range eggs
With quality guaranteed, all of the beef and lamb sold in the shop is born and bred on the Wallington Estate, has DEFRA full traceability and is RSPCA Freedom Food checked.
The remainder of our meat and game is produced by accredited local suppliers in the North of England.
You don’t have to pay an admission fee at Gibside to enjoy the benefits of Gibside Larder, shop, tea room or Community Farmers Market, so come along, enjoy the surroundings, treat yourself and support local food producers.

Gibside Community Farmers Market
On the third Saturday of every month (except July), a small number of local farmers will be coming together to sell their wares at Gibside, organised by a different 'Volunteer Farmers Market Manager' each time.
The market will provide the chance to buy and learn about locally grown and reared food direct from the farmers, as well as being a fun day out for all the family. One stall will even be a play shop for children and each month there’ll be a specially invited stall holder providing food to taste.
Food and the National Trust
The National Trust is helping to reconnect the food chain between producers and consumers. We want to share our passion in sourcing and selling food that has integrity based on animal welfare, food safety and environmental principles. Our aim is to provide food from a known source that is healthy, tasty and enjoyable.
