A wonderful venue for your wedding ceremony, Gibside Chapel hosts Anglican weddings for those living within the Diocesan boundary.
The Chapel boasts graceful columns, delicate carvings and plasterwork, and crowning it, a dome decorated with festoons. Inside, there is Georgian simplicity, with elegant cherry-wood furnishings including a three-tier pulpit. The design of the Chapel allows for a very special and intimate wedding ceremony.

The Chapel was built in the 18th and 19th centuries for the Bowes-Lyon family as part of their ‘Grand Design’ for Gibside. The Chapel sits at the end of the half-mile tree-lined Long Walk, along which the bride can sometimes travel on the way to the ceremony.

The view from the Chapel follows this Long Walk a mile distant to the Column of Liberty. With its wildflower meadows and graceful woods, you will be getting married in one of the North's finest landscapes.
Receptions
Evening receptions are held in a marquee within the landscape garden.
