    Things to do
    Events  Events
Family events like an Easter Egg Trail and Pirates Treasure Trail in August. Countryside wardens also offer guided walks around the estate during the summer months.

    Family highlights  Family highlights
There are plenty of natural highlights to interest (and tire out) adventurous youngsters... from wildlife-spotting to discovering fossils, rock-pooling to just running about in wide open spaces.

    Walking  Walking
The South West Coast Path runs through the Golden Cap estate offering panoramic cliff top views the whole time. There are a further 25 miles of footpaths to explore inland through historic meadows and woodland.

A National Trust circular walks pack is available for £3.95 from our Stonebarrow shop. It offers inspiration and information to help you uncover Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. A Golden Cap estate walks leaflet is available for 50p. Contact us to have them sent to you in advance of a visit.

Canoeing and kayaking  Canoeing and kayaking
Sea-kayaking along the Dorset coast offers a breathtaking perspective on the towering Jurassic cliffs at Golden Cap.

    Fishing  Fishing
The beaches below Golden Cap are a good place for sea-angling, with mackerel and sea bass off-shore.

    Geocaching  Geocaching
There are several geocaches located on the Golden Cap estate.

    Horse riding  Horse riding
Nestled between historic meadows and hedgerows are a network of quiet bridleways to explore.

    Swimming  Swimming
The beaches are suitable for paddling and swimming in fine weather conditions. Take care as the shallow waters of a shingle beach tend to give way to much deeper sea not far offshore.

    Get involved  Get involved
Help us care for this fantastic coastal estate while learning new skills and meeting new people. There are opportunities for conservation and visitor services roles, for casual, regular or full-time volunteering. Accommodation for groups is available at our Stonebarrow basecamp.

Every year several National Trust working holidays carry out conservation work like hedge-laying, footpath maintenance, habitat restoration and scrub clearance.
