Sailing on Coniston Water, this rebuilt Victorian steam powered yacht will transport you back to a previous era of peace and tranquillity.
Gondola's graceful gliding motion is an experience not to be missed. Of particular interest is her link to Victorian times and connections to the Furness Railway. Sailing on Gondola is a unique and spectacular experience and can be easily linked to a Victorian themed itinerary by disembarking at Brantwood (the home of John Ruskin, Victorian painter and social reformer) where smaller groups could also enjoy lunch or afternoon tea at Jumping Jenny's, a stunningly located restaurant overlooking Coniston Water.
Steam Yacht Gondola is a short drive away from Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's home and could easily be added as a variation to a Beatrix Potter-themed itinerary. The new jetty stop at Monk Coniston can disembark those passengers who would like to take a stroll on the recently opened footpath through the grounds of Monk Coniston Estate at the northern end of Coniston Water, once owned by Potter. The estate affords stunning views of Coniston Water and can be linked to a walk up to the famous Victorian beauty spot Tarn Hows.
The Ruskin Museum in the centre of Coniston is also well worth a visit, depicting the lives and history of Coniston's renowned celebrities, Ruskin and also more recently Donald Campbell.
