    Woodland Discovery

    Use your senses to experience the Forest in ways which people normally don’t have time to. Includes making smelly soup and a scavenger hunt.

    Woodland Animal Detective

    Collect and observe land invertebrates from a woodland habitat. Learn to examine the animals carefully using magnifying glasses and to identify them using simple keys. Larger animals in the Forest can be identified by looking for tracks and signs.

    Woodland Study

    Find out why trees are important. Use ID guides to identify leaves, estimate the height and age of some of our most magnificent trees and then chose a tree to study.

    Pond Dipping

    Pond dip safely in small supervised groups. Use simple keys to identify invertebrates of all shapes and sizes. Investigate what you have caught using magnifying glasses and pots.

    What is a habitat?  What does it provide?  Looking for habitats for very unusual creatures and gaining a thorough understanding of the way animals adapt to their environment
