Access: Hatfield Forest is open to pedestrians all year. The car park at the main entrance is also open all year. In addition, parking is permitted at designated areas within the Forest from Easter to the end of October (10.00am - 5.00pm, last entrance).
A charge is made for parking from Easter to end of October for cars, minibuses and coaches.
Motorcycles may be parked free of charge in the entrance car park but are not permitted in the Forest.
Nature trail: Guides and a nature trail leaflet are available from the main entrance kiosk and the Interpretation Room.
Fishing: Day tickets are available at the lakeside. Season tickets, which permit the holder to night fish as well as day fish, are also available. Closed season from 15th March to 15th June inclusive. More on fishing on National Trust land.
Dog walking: Dogs are welcome if kept under proper control. They must be kept on leads where sheep are grazing and within the lake area. Part of the area around the lake has been designated a dog free zone - please respect this policy. More on walking your dog on National Trust land.
Horse-riding: Horse-riding in the Forest is available to members of the Hatfield Forest Riding Association. For further information contact the Estate Office. More information on horse riding on National Trust land.
Bicycles: Bicycles are welcome in Hatfield Forest. Cyclists are reminded that it is an area of great importance for wildlife and should be treated with respect. Bicycles are not permitted in the Gravel Pit or the Lake area. More on cycling on National Trust land.

Refreshments: The Forest Café offers hot food and refreshments and is open at the following times:
- Easter - mid-September, daily 10.00am-4.30pm
- Mid-September - 31st October, Tues-Sun 11.00am-3.30pm
- November-Easter, weekends and school holidays 11.00am-3.30pm
