In 2006, the National Trust was delighted to receive a major donation of £1.6 million, allowing it to herald a new heyday at Hidcote Manor Garden.
Matched by a major fundraising campaign, the donation will fund a six-year project, allowing the Trust to take the famous garden back to the 1930s heyday of its creator, Lawrence Johnston.
The Trust’s vision for Hidcote in the next decade is threefold; to create a centre of excellence for horticultural education, re-establish Hidcote as a centre of excellence for horticulture worldwide and to ensure it is financially sustainable.
The whole project is designed to be completed by 2012.
