    What's new this year
Come and visit the house which was recreated for the film Miss Potter. Hill Top characters Jemima Puddle-Duck and Samuel Whiskers celebrate their 100th birthdays this year

Points to noteHill Top is a small house and a timed entry system is in operation to avoid overcrowding and to protect the fragile interior. As this can be a very busy property, visitors may sometimes have to wait to enter the house and early sell-outs are possible, especially at holiday times. Tickets cannot be booked in advance. Access to the garden and shop is always possible during opening hours. Since the BBC showed the Miss Potter film at the start of August, Hill Top has been the busiest it has ever been. Please be aware that we are often sold out of timed tickets to the house by 2 each day and we would advise not coming after this time if you wish to see inside the house. The wait for entry to the house is often 2 hours long. The Gardens and shop are open every day until 5, so if you simply wish to see the outside of the house and pick up some souvenirs, we recommend coming towards the end of the day. It is great that so many people are interested in learning about Beatrix and her life – but quite a challenge for us
