    Group visits
This delightful small 17th-century farmhouse is where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous children's stories and it has been kept exactly as she left it. Recently re-created for the major film Miss Potter. Traditional cottage garden planted with flowers, herbs and vegetables. The house, gardens and village were used as models for illustrations in many of her books. A selection of the original illustrations is displayed at the Beatrix Potter Gallery nearby.

Hill Top is a small house and a timed entry system is in operation to avoid overcrowding and to protect the fragile interior. As this can be a very busy property, visitors may sometimes have to wait to enter the house and early sell-outs are possible, especially at holiday times. Access to the garden and shop is always possible during opening hours. The group may need to be split to enter the house and all groups must book in advance
