About this property Recent enhancements at Hughenden Manor offer a vivid insight into the charismatic personality and colourful private life of the most unlikely Victorian Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, who lived here from 1848 until his death in 1881. Much of his furniture, paintings and books remain and the new presentation of the Disraeli Room allows visitors to browse among an extraordinary collection of personal memorabilia, including cuttings of his hair, kept for posterity and labelled by his devoted wife, Mary Anne. Part of the cellars are now open to the public for a glimpse into life below stairs, and there are hands-on activities for children in the house to help them enjoy their visit. The formal gardens have been recreated, based on the original designs of Mary Anne Disraeli, and there are beautiful walks through the park and woodland surrounding this fascinating country home.
