There are over one hundred volunteers working at Ickworth, in the house, park and gardens, carrying out a variety of interesting and vital work.
Room wardens look after our show rooms while the house is open to the public; they inform the visitors about the history of the House, family and collections. Some Room Wardens also act as guides giving tours around the House, including specialist areas such as the Picture collection, the Silver collection and the Library.
Garden volunteers support the Garden Staff in two important areas; as Wardens looking after the visitors and helping to maintain and care for the garden.
Events and education is a popular area for volunteers to assist with. Many help to organise and run events and assist the Education Officer with school parties.
Volunteers also assist in the restaurant and shop. The volunteers at Ickworth are of all ages from school-age upwards. We are grateful for all help whether it be an afternoon each week or a long-term placement. All are given full training for the tasks they undertake.
Whilst services are offered voluntarily we do cover travel expenses and longer term volunteers are given free entry to National Trust houses and discount in our shop.
Raffle tickets This website was funded by the wonderful efforts of our volunteer raffle ticket sellers who, for every £1 raffle ticket sold, raised £2 for Ickworth. Next time you visit, make sure you buy your raffle tickets - and don't forget to mention this website!
