Wedding receptions at Killerton

Killerton House was the much-loved family home for generations of the Acland family, and happy host to many events and celebrations.

The house and garden are stunningly set in East Devon. Easy accessible, they can now play the perfect host for your wedding reception.

Killerton House was re-built in 1777–79 for Sir Thomas Acland, 7th Baronet. The Aclands chose to alter and expand the existing house to suit their needs. Today, Killerton retains the delightful atmosphere of a warm and welcoming family home in a beautiful parkland surrounding.

The garden sits on a south-facing slope with far-reaching views towards Dartmoor, Woodbury Common and the Exe estuary. It features a vast array of interest throughout the seasons including magnificent rhododendrons and magnolias, stunning herbaceous borders and a collection of rare trees.

Killerton House is not licensed for civil wedding ceremonies but wedding blessings may take place in Killerton Chapel, by arrangement (Killerton Chapel is used for the wedding ceremonies of those with a ‘connection’ to the estate only).

The garden restaurant

Smaller wedding receptions can be held in the garden restaurant in the house. Guests can also enjoy access to the garden. (Please note that discos/dancing can only take place in a marquee in the garden). We provide our own catering for your reception in the garden restaurant.

  • Capacity: 50
  • Price: please contact us for room hire charges, and menu options and prices

The garden

Larger receptions can be held in a marquee on the large lawn area by the herbaceous borders. We can recommend external caterers for your reception.

  • Capacity: up to 200
  • Price (for 2008): £1,500 inc VAT (for venue hire only; please note that the cost of marquee hire is not included)

Please note that we are fully booked for wedding receptions in the garden at Killerton for 2007.

When can wedding receptions be held at Killerton?

Killerton is available for afternoon and evening wedding receptions by arrangement between March and October. Between November and February, the garden restaurant is available for private hire any day, dependent upon our events calendar.
