About this property One of the finest preserved timer-framed buildings in Britain, the Guildhall is at the centre of what was once the 14th richest town in England. Built c.1530, it was one of the last buildings to be erected before the cloth economy crashed. Fascinating exhibitions give you an insight into local history and traditional farming practices, as well as the area's medieval cloth industry, while the dressing-up box will delight all children! Be sure to explore the tranquil walled garden, where there are traditional dye plants which produce colours that are bright even for today.
