Holy Island can only be reached by vehicle or on foot via a 3ml causeway, which is closed from 2 hours before high tide until 3 hours after. Tide tables are listed in local newspapers, on Northumberland County Council website and displayed at the causeway. To avoid disappointment check safe crossing times before making a long/special journey. No large bags, pushchairs or rucksacks in castle. Emergency WC only; otherwise nearest WC in village 1ml from castle

Open BH Mons (inc. Scottish BHols). Lindisfarne is a tidal island accessed via a 3ml causeway at low tide. Therefore the castle opening times vary depending on the tides. On open days the castle will open for 5hrs, which will always include 123. It will open either 103 or 125. The NT flag will fly only when the castle is open. To obtain a copy of the tide tables and detailed opening times send sae to Lindisfarne Castle stating which month you wish to visit. Last admission 30mins before closing
