A fantastic place for the whole family to discover nature; lots of short walks and a pushchair-friendly path around Blea Tarn and up to the top of Blea Tarn pass.
Walking
There are a wealth of great walks around Little Langdale Valley, suitable for both the more energetic and those wanting a relaxing stroll. There is an all-ability trail at Blea Tarn which starts at the car park. There are also riverside and waterfall walks and access to a public footpath which leads all the way to Colwith Force, a beautiful waterfall.
Cycling
Great cycling opportunities, mainly for experienced cyclists. There are very few opportunities for easy routes due to the surfaces and the gradients encountered. National Cycle Network 37 passes through the valley connecting Ambleside to Ulverston. Great for mountain bikes and hybrid bikes, but not so suitable for road bikes.
Fishing
Fly-fishing at Blea Tarn during the trout fishing season, between March and October although these dates may vary. Contact 015394 41172 for further information.
Rock climbing
While there is limited rock climbing in the valley itself, it is very close to Great Langdale and other areas where there is a tremendous range of accessible crags. For more information go to The Fell and Rock Climbing Club.
Swimming
For the stout of heart Blea Tarn provides an exhilarating dip.
Other recreational activities
Great place for wildlife-watching and bird-spotting; you can see many upland birds such as Buzzards and Peregrine Falcons.
