One of the smallest National Trust properties (formed as a circular wall encompassing the graves, it is only 10m across) the graves therein commemorate the Hancock family who perished in the plague years of the 17th century. Linked irretrievably with the local village of Eyam, this property is visited by many thousands of schoolchildren every year.
What to see and do In conjunction with a visit to the village you can learn about the dreadful fate which befell the Eyam inhabitants in the 17th century.
How to get there Rail - the nearest station is at Grindleford, approximately 3 km away. A pleasant walk.
Bus - visited by numbers 65, 66, X67, the village of Eyam is well catered for by bus links.
Car - park on the southern outskirts of Eyam. Walk away from the village and follow the signs along a farm track eastwards.
