Volunteers play a key role on the property and during 2002 they gave over 10,000 hours of their time. To be a volunteer on the property, you do not have be a member of The National Trust.
There are several different ways to volunteer on Marsden Moor Estate:

Property Volunteer
These are people who commit time regularly to Marsden Moor Estate. Volunteers can be found working on the property 7 days a week, doing anything from a couple of hours a day to over 12 hours in one day on occasion.
Being a volunteer does not limit you to any one type of activity and regular training courses are run for those areas you are interested in but do not necessarily have experience in. The tasks include:
- Patrols
- Guided Walks
- Practical Conservation
- Events
- Social Activities
- Leaflet Distribution
- Monitoring
- Administration
- Photography
- Talks
- Any thing else asked of you that you do not mind doing!
Volunteers get involved in one or more of these tasks, with some specialising in certain areas, but this is not a requirement. You can even help without setting foot on the Moor!
For more information you can either contact the warden by telephone on 01484 847016 or send an email.

National Trust Volunteer Groups (NTV Group) These groups are run by volunteers for volunteers providing an opportunity to work on a variety of properties and participate in social activities. Each group operates slightly differently but they all have a programme of events running throughout the year.
- West Yorkshire National Trust Volunteers
Groups and Organisations Many different groups have been involved in working on the property, for instance Scout Troops, Duke of Edinburgh Groups, Rotary Clubs, etc. The amount of commitment varies from one day to several over a period of time.
If your group would be interested in helping at Marsden Moor Estate you can either contact the warden by telephone on 01484 847016 or send an email.

Individuals
If you can not provide a regular commitment for whatever reason, then you can still help out where you can. Regular conservation tasks are held both at weekends and midweek at which members of the public are welcome to attend.
Also if you have a specialist skill that you would like to make available to the trust when needed, either at a local or regional level, then please contact the warden by telephone on 01484 847016 or send an email.
