    Join National Trust wardens on an annual summer guided walk at Cheddar Gorge to learn more about its rich wildlife and see Cheddar pinks, orchids and nesting peregrine falcons.

    Discover wide open spaces away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Go in search of wildlife, explore ancient caves or simply run off steam as you climb up to some of Somerset's finest viewpoints!
     
    Walking  Walking
    Enjoy a 5 mile circular walk at Crooks Peak, starting at King's Wood car park, taking you through ancient woodland and open expanses of grassland.

    Download our 5 mile Cheddar Gorge walk, which climbs up the north side of the gorge. The steep climbs are rewarded with amazing views.

    Cycling  Cycling
    The Strawberry Line, National Cycle Network route 26, runs across the Mendip Hills and down into Cheddar. You can also cycle along the bridleways at Crook Peak, but cycling on the peak itself is not permitted.
     
    Horse riding  Horse riding
    There are a number of bridleways on Crook Peak. Please contact us for a map.
     
    Kite flying  Kite or model flying
    There are some great open spaces on the Mendip Hills for flying a kite.

    The West Mendip Soaring Association club regularly flies model gliders on Crook Peak.
     
    Climbing  Rock climbing
    Cheddar Gorge is great for rock climbing and you are free to climb at your own risk. The British Mountaineering Council has information about climbing at Cheddar.

    If you've never climbed before but would like to give it a go, head to Cheddar Caves and Gorge where you can book lessons on rock climbing and abseiling.
