Tours of Mendips are offered as part of a combined visit to 20 Forthlin Road, the former home of the McCartney family.
Access to both properties is by scheduled minibus tour only, with a maximum of 14 places on each tour, so to avoid disappointment we recommend that you pre-book your tour tickets. You can do this 24 hours a day online.
- Morning tours, at 10.00am and 10.50am, depart from the Conservation Centre in Liverpool City Centre.
- Afternoon tours, at 2.30pm and 3.20pm, depart from Speke Hall, National Trust, in South Liverpool.
Tours last on average 2 hours.
Photography
Any photography inside the house is strictly prohibited. On arrival at both properties you will be asked to hand over cameras and recording equipment. They will be securely stored.
You are welcome to take photographs in the gardens of both properties during your visit.
We do, however, have a range of merchandise and souvenirs, including postcards, available for purchase at either the 08 Place, Whitechapel (morning tours) or the Speke Hall Shop (Afternoon tours).
'John was a uniquely brilliant man and it gives me great pleasure to see Mendips restored as a permanent memory of a place that formed him and his amazing talents. My husband was proud of Liverpool and often spoke of his time at Mendips. He would often tell me stories of things that happened there and I would get a very real sense of the environment that helped shape him. Through him I’ve learnt to love this beautiful house. I hope you will too'.
