    Afternoon tours

    Afternoon tours leave from Speke Hall, National Trust, located 8 miles South East of Liverpool City Centre, next door to Liverpool Airport. We are pleased to offer visitors joining a Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road tour free access to the grounds of Speke Hall.

    Bookings

    You can prebook and pay for your tickets online 24 hours a day. Please note you are unable to book and prepay for tickets online on the day of travel.

    To book an afternoon tour departing Speke Hall at 2.30pm or 3.20pm on the day of the tour, please call +44 (0) 151 427 7231.

    The booking lines are open every day from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

    We recommend that you book your tour tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

    Ticket collection and payment

    For tickets sold on the day of travel only

    You should arrive at the Home Farm Visitor Reception at the National Trust's Speke Hall at least 15 minutes before your tour’s departure time. This is important to allow you sufficient time to pay for your tickets and reach the tour departure point.

    Please approach a member of staff in the Visitor Reception who will be happy to help you.

    If you have not made a reservation in advance and are hoping to join a tour, a member of staff will be happy to sell you a ticket, subject to availability. Please be aware that there are a maximum of 14 places available on each tour and we recommend that you make a booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

    Prebooked tickets

    If you have prebooked your tickets online and not printed off your voucher, please arrive at Speke Hall (Home Farm) at least 15 minutes before your tour's departure time and speak to a member of staff in the Visitor Reception. Please bring with you your booking reference number(s).

    If you have prebooked your ticket and printed off the voucher, please follow the directions on your ticket. Please be at the pick up point 15 minutes prior to the advertised departure time.

    Getting there

    By road
    Liverpool is on the North West coast of England via the M6, M56, M62 or M58 motorways.
    1 mile off A561 on W side of LiverpoolAirport.
    M56 follow exit 12

    Speke Hall is 8 miles SE of Liverpool - follow the brown tourism signs for Speke Hall and then directional signs for the car park.

    By rail
    Nearest stations are:
    Liverpool South Parkway (2 miles)
    Hunts Cross Station (2 miles)

    By bus
    From Liverpool Lime Street Station, leave the station by the exit by platform 9. The no. 500 Liverpool Airport Express Bus Service leaves every 20 minutes. The journey takes around 30 minutes with a flat fare of £2.00.

    Tell the driver you are going to Speke Hall and he will drop you in the Estuary Business Park. The Hall is a 15-20 minute walk from here follow the brown directional signs from the roundabout just beyond where the bus drops you.

    By taxi
    At the time of writing (November 2008), a taxi from the city centre would cost in the region of £12.00 to £15.00 and take around 30 minutes depending on the volume of traffic.

    Car parking

    Car parking at Speke Hall is found at our Home Farm Visitor Centre.

    You will be directed to the car park by a member of staff when you arrive at the property. Please mention that you are joining a Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road tour as your Speke Hall garden ticket fee is included in your Mendips and Forthlin Road tour ticket price.

    Please note that cars are parked at their owners risk and the National Trust can take no responsibility for damage or theft of vehicles or their contents whilst parked on our land.

    Facilities for cyclists

    As part of our commitment to the environment, we welcome cyclists at Speke Hall.

    Cycle parking is available at the car park with easy access to the Home Farm Visitor Centre

    Cycle locks are available for hire from the Visitor Reception for £1.00. Please telephone in advance to check availability.

    Refreshments

    Whilst there are no refreshments available at Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road, the Speke Hall restaurant serves a wide range of produce, including a delicious selection of home made cakes, hot meals and range of lighter snacks, all prepared from locally sourced ingredients where possible.

    Hot meals are served between 12pm and 2pm and lighter meals are available all day. Last orders are taken at 4.45pm (3.45pm during the winter season).

    Please note that the restaurant will be closed when the last tour arrives back at Speke Hall.
