 | The National Trust's Orford Ness National Nature Reserve has had to delay its opening, due to the overrunning of essential refurbishment work to Orford Quay. The work, which was due to be complete by the end of April, has been delayed and the property is now due to open for the season on Saturday 17 May. Orford Quay, which is privately owned by the New Orford Town Trust is the only visitor access point onto the Ness. Therefore visitors are unable to enjoy this internationally important nature reserve, with its secret military history, until the work is complete. If visitors need more information regarding the closure and the property's re-opening, please call the Orford Ness team on 01394 450900. NB. Orford Ness would normally be open on Saturdays from Easter, as stated in the property events leaflet and the member's handbook. However, due to the unforeseen closure of the quay, this information was not available until after literature went to print |
