Created after 1996, this attractive footpath cuts through established farmland that has been cultivated for many years.
Nine Acre Path leads from the car park to the bridleway, Osterley Lane. To the left, horses graze beside the Middle Lake; to the right, there is a large meadow known as Forty Field.
From Osterley Lane, at the fishermen's wall, there are particularly stunning views of the house across Middle Lake. Fishermen here can spot great crested grebes, tufted duck, swans and herons while they wait for a bite.
This lane formed the original approach to the property, entering from the south through Robert Adam's Wyke Green lodges. The fine metal gate that stood at the entrance has been removed into safe storage awaiting restoration.
To the right of Osterley Lane is the rifle range, set up during the Second World War after Lord Jersey offered Osterley Park as a training base for the Home Guard. They were taught ambushing, building homemade weapons, and other guerilla tactics. The Park was also partly ploughed up to produce food. This work was largely done by Land Girls, some of whom were billeted in the Stableblock.
