    Things to do
    Events  Events
National Trust wardens run regular guided walks, a great chance to find out more about the wildlife and history of the south Devon coast.

You can also take part in rural craft skills days for the chance to learn the art of stone-walling and hedge-laying.

    Family highlights  Family highlights
A fantastic area for a seaside day out... You can go rock-pooling and make sandcastles at South Milton Sands beach, or spot secret coves and shipwrecks down below when walking along the coast path.

Look out for loads of wildlife, from wildflower-loving butterflies like the marbled white, to birds such as the timid Dartford warbler, or the kestrel, which often hovers above the rough grassland around Bolt Tail.

    Walking  Walking
Enjoy spectacular cliff top views at Bolberry Down. A series of levelled, compacted and widened tracks make it a great place for a gentle walk. There is also an easy-access trail at Snapes Point, a prime bird-watching location. Download our 3½ mile coastal walk.

The South West Coast Path crosses the estate and links to a network of inland walking routes, so there are plenty of ways to explore the area on foot. Walking around Middlecombe and Muckwell, south of Torcross, and Gara Rock on Portlemouth Down, offers very spectacular coastal scenery.

    Cycling  Cycling
Enjoy traffic-free cycling on the bridleways that criss-cross this part of the south Devon countryside. National Cycle Network route 2 meets the Salcombe and Kingsbridge estuary at East Portlemouth on its way south from Totnes.
