About this property This historic estate is the home of the Earls of Lichfield. Visitors can view the entire estate, including all its major working historic buildings, set in their original parkland with several historic landscape monuments. Follow the story of food production at Shugborough from its cultivation in the 1805 walled garden, its processing in the 1805 farm, its preparation in the multi-period servants' quarters, and finally its consumption in the fine dining room of the house. Some of the rooms contain artefacts from Admiral Anson's epic circumnavigation of the globe in the 1740s. Each part of this story is told by 'first person' guides, who work on a range of tasks using original equipment. Each day, visitors can see traditional methods being used whether it is in the walled garden, at the mill, cheese-making in the dairy, cooking and baking, washing and ironing or even brewing (and you can sample the brewer's work). After all that, there are the beautiful riverside gardens to enjoy.
