Richard Watt created the gardens we see today, while reviving the Hall between 1855 and 1865. Over the last decade, the National Trust's team of three gardeners has undertaken substantial replanting in the spirit of his mid-Victorian scheme.
The restored garden has spring bulbs, a rose garden, summer border and stream garden, and there are woodland walks and magnificent views of the mersey basin and North Wales hills from The Bund, an high bank.
