What can we do in the afternoon?
Students who are not booked onto our Tudor Hands On programme can:
- Stay for lunch. There are outdoor picnic tables near the car park. If it rains we can provide shelter until you are due to leave.
- Use the grounds as a resource for Art, Geography and Environmental Science work under the direction and supervision of you and your staff.
- KS1 and KS2 students can use our playground under the direction and supervision of your staff.
- Visit the National Trust shop, which stocks a small range of books and postcards as well as a range of pocket money souvenirs. Please check the shop opening times below.
- We have a PE box (with coits, beanbags, balls and skipping ropes) that can be borrowed for the afternoon and used in the Glade, a secluded play space
You will not be able to go back into the Hall itself in the afternoon.

What should we wear?
Speke Hall can be very cold, even in summer, and some of our programmes include a look at the outside of the building. Warm, waterproof clothing is therefore recommended.

will we get resource packs and worksheets?
As curriculum requirements for students of all ages can change so frequently we do not have an education resource pack or worksheets available for purchase at the current time, but more information can be found in the Speke Hall Guide Books, only available from our Shop
We do not recommend the use of worksheets during a tour.
