Guided walks take place throughout the year. Join us to learn about ancient peoples, hidden histories and the changing landscape with a National Trust guide.

Guided walks, lasting around 1½ hours, are free but donations are welcome. To book please contact us by telephone on 01980 664780 or email us.

The Sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon is a sponsored walk between Avebury and Stonehenge and takes place in May each year. Find out more from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

Amesbury Walkers organise the Stonehenge Stomp and Woodhenge Womble every January.

    Family highlights  Family highlights
This is a great place for a bit of fresh air and a run around in wide open spaces. Discover the mysterious lumps and bumps in the ancient countryside around Stonehenge and imagine what life was like thousands of years ago when these earthworks were first built.

Young wildlife detectives should keep a look out for birds and brown hares all year round, plus colourful flowers and all manner of minibeasts in summer.

Explore Stonehenge Down and Durrington Walls via a network of footpaths, byways and bridleways. A walks leaflet is available, please contact us to obtain a copy or download a 2½ mile trail sheet from our website.

    Get involved  Get involved
Join a National Trust working holiday to help us with a variety of conservation activities, from clearing scrub, to monitoring wildlife and repairing damage to ancient barrows. Corporate groups can also get involved as part of our Employee Volunteering programme.

Long term volunteer roles are vital to the management of this estate. We also need part-time volunteers, including landscape guide volunteers, to help interpret Stonehenge's archaeology and wildlife for visitors, and education volunteers to work with schools and youth groups.

Please contact us if you would like to know more.
