We are always looking for people to help with a variety of duties. The only qualifications needed are friendliness, flexibility and a commitment to high standards of customer service.
National Trust Shop
Our Shop Manager always welcomes help in the shop.
Garden and Temple Stewards
These duties are out of doors and in all weathers.
Guides
Volunteers with specialist knowledge, experience and enthusiasm are needed to provide a regular series of guided walks, giving insight and pleasure to many of our visitors.
Help for visitors with impaired mobility
Volunteers are needed to help with our self-drive, two-seat battery powered vehicles. This is a valuable service (available March to October, subject to conditions), which allows more people to enjoy the garden independently.
Park and Gardens
We are always looking for volunteers who enjoy gardening to help our gardening team. Volunteers are needed to keep the temples clean and tidy, and to make sure that the monuments are presentable.
Other volunteers
Further opportunities are available to help with events and weddings and in the Archive Resource.
Long term volunteers
We are always looking for long-term volunteers with an interest in landscape gardening and architecture. Most work is of a practical nature.
Volunteers have joined us from all over the world, either as part of their studies or from a personal interest in landscape gardens. All have found their experience at Stowe invaluable both personally and on a professional basis.
