'The House of Bling' is a brand-new contemporary arts exhibition for Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire.
Artists from across the UK have been invited to create brand-new art works, which will be exhibited throughout the building during August.
The artists are Sarah Price, Geraldine Pilgrim, Catherine Bertola, Linda Florence and KMA (Kit Monkman and Tom Wexler).
They'll produce work inspired by the rich history of the building and the people who once lived there. Each artist will work within a specific area of the six-storey castle including the cellars and surrounding lawns.
Sarah Price, Chelsea Flower Show Silver medallist and designer of the botanical garden for the 2012 Olympic Park, will create a 'secret garden' style artwork in the castle grounds.
York-based artists KMA will create an animated portrait in the cellars, based around the fictional character of a tour guide.
In the grounds of the castle, print designer Linda Florence will produce elaborate patterns cut into the large lawn, creating a beautiful 'grass carpet' that will grow out and fade with time.
Why the title?
Built to reflect the power, status and personal fortune of its original owner, Lord Cromwell, Tattershall Castle was a piece of pure medieval bling! The aim of this exhibition is to explore the castle’s opulent past and eventual decline, but through a modern-day prism.

What can I expect?
The House of Bling is no ordinary exhibition! Unlike many visual art exhibitions that display wall-mounted paintings or sculpture, the artists for this project will be creating large-scale installation-based work.
This means making art work specifically for the different spaces within the castle, which visitors will be able to walk around or interact with, and using a range of creative media such as sound, video projection, landscape design and multiple or found objects.
Can I get involved?
Yes you can! The House of Bling organisers are looking for keen and able volunteers who can help out in a number of ways. You could assist artist Linda Florence to create her outdoor piece or become a guide for the day and provide information to visitors.
Because of the nature of the volunteering, we're only able to accept people 16 years or older. If you're interested in getting involved, please leave your details with Tattershall Castle and one of the organisers will contact you.
