The Study was placed so that visiting clients would not need to enter the
main part of the house. Patrick Gwynne transformed it to its present appearance
in the 1960s.
The long desk is worthy of the bridge of a starship, raised up on a single angled
metal leg which hides the telephone and electric wiring. Gwynne designed it to
combine three functions: in the centre was a telephone and computerised diary,
to one side a drawing table, to the other a desk surface.
Behind the desk is a wall mounted unit with different shaped drawers for filing
drawings, photographs, books and papers. One sliding unit brings out the typewriter.
