Join National Trust wardens for guided walks and find out more about Exmoor's interesting history and wildlife.
Family highlights
This is a fantastic place for budding nature detectives. There is loads of wildlife to spot on a walk alongside the tumbling woodland streams and waterfalls.
A childrens' quiz and trail is available from the Watersmeet House shop.
Walking
Whether you want a short scenic stroll or are passing through on a longer trek of the South West Coast Path or Two Moors Way, there are almost 40 miles of footpath to explore in this area.
The most popular routes are from Lynmouth to Watersmeet, and on to Rockford and Brendon, but there are lots of circular walk possibilities too. If you are feeling energetic, climb up on to elevated moorland paths for far-reaching views.
Buy a National Trust walks guide from Watersmeet House or contact the property and have one posted to you.

Fishing
The East Lyn river is well known for its trout and salmon. It is virtually pollution-free and its deep pools act as resting places for fish making their way up the river to spawn.
The National Trust leases fishing rights to the Environment Agency, South West Office. Permits are sold in post offices locally and at Watersmeet House shop. There are seasonal restrictions.
Outdoor activity centre
Exmoor Base Camp, a residential centre for working holidays, volunteer and private/family groups.
Hundreds of volunteers help out each year with conservation tasks like woodland management and rhododendron clearing, path maintenance and wall building.
