About this property
Spanning the River Itchen, this water-powered corn mill was first recorded in the Domesday survey of 1086. Rebuilt in 1744, it remained in use until the turn of the last century and has now been restored to full working order. The waterwheel and machinery turn daily throughout the season and there is something to interest everyone, including awe-inspiring mill races, hands-on activities for children, a video presentation and displays about the river and its wildlife including CCTV footage of otters. There are also regular flour milling demonstrations and the flour is on sale in the gift shop.
