    Here are just a few places where you can unwind both body and mind:

    Glendurgan, Cornwall

    This beautiful sub-tropical valley garden, created in the 1820s, contains many exotic trees and shrubs. The spectacular laurel maze, dating from 1833, is a great place to lose yourself for a while. The garden leads to a tranquil sandy beach and rock pools at Durgan.

    Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

    This vast park has a superb serpentine lake at its heart and the longest avenue of lime trees in Europe. You can hire a bicycle, or bring your own if you prefer, and explore our woodland trail.

    Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire

    Over half a mile long, the horse chestnuts were planted in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI.

    Anglesey Abbey is an early 20th century luxury home, lovingly created to reflect its 800 year history. The gardens are a mixture of formal and informal styles, offering a spectrum of colours all year round. Other features include a new woodland trail and an idyllic 18th century working watermill.

    Downhill Estate & Mussenden Temple, Londonderry

    The Downhill Estate is set amid the exhilarating coastline and rugged clifftops. In it lie beautiful gardens, ruins, a mausoleum and the Mussenden Temple. A perfect combination of natural and man-made beauty.

    Sizergh Castle & Garden, Cumbria

    Sizergh Castle is an imposing Medieval house, filled with decor that is grand yet elegant. Outside, the estate has many short walks, that offer superb opportunities to relish the scenery laid out below. The garden includes two lakes and a fine rock garden.

    This urban oasis of tranquility was designed by the likes of 'Capability' Brown, Charles Bridgeman and Sir John Vanbrugh. Claremont contains a unique grass amphitheatre, a serpentine lake, an island with a pavilion and a grotto.

    Stowe Lanscape Gardens, Buckinghamshire

    One of the highlights of Stowe Gardens, is its wealth of nooks and crannies, hidden amongst the sensational vistas and wide open spaces. There is also a large deerpark and a variety of peaceful walks and trails to enjoy.

    Plas Newydd, Anglesey

    Plas Newydd is an elegant combination of classical and Gothic architecture and design, while outside, the blend of wild flowers, formal gardens and an arboretum are enough to delight any visitor. Combine exploring them with a woodland walk along the Menai Straits. This is a peaceful day out not to be missed.

    Stourhead, Wiltshire

    Stourhead, with its classical temples set around a central lake, is one of the finest landscape gardens in the world. The interesting walks, ever changing vistas and secluded spots make this the perfect destination to spend a relaxing afternoon.

    This Elizabethan manor house is set in delightful grounds. The gardens are home to stewponds, a lake walk and a nature walk, although one of the most striking features is the medieval moat that surrounds the house.

    Gibside, Newcastle upon Tyne

    One of the finest landscapes in the north, Gibside is a forest garden. Embracing miles of woodland and riverside walks, the estate also boasts a Palladian chapel and the Column to Liberty.
