Godolphin, Cornwall

The exterior of Godolphin House, Cornwall.

This year we will be opening Godolphin house and garden, following last year's acquisition. For nearly 200 years the house has had very little attention or money spent on it and needs vital restoration work in order to preserve it for future generations. We have started the Godolphin Appeal which aims to raise the vital funds needed for Godolphin's restoration.

The garden will be open daily from 17 March and the house will be open in its entirety (including new rooms never seen by the public before) each Wednesday from 14 May.

Welcombe, Devon

A view of Welcombe Mouth, North Devon.

Welcombe Mouth in North Devon, formely owned by The Devon Wildlife Trust, has been kindly passed on to us so that we can continue vital conservation work on this site. Welcombe is one of the most spectacular and yet peaceful stretches of the north coast and in accepting this gift we are looking forward to working closely with the community at Welcombe, protecting the landscape and its wildlife.

Welcombe is now open to the public and we plan to begin work on creating, repairing and improving footpaths to increase visitor access to Welcombe.

Museum of Childhood, East Midlands

Children playing at the The Museum of Childhood, Sudbury Hall.

The National Trust Museum of Childhood at Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire, has re-opened following a £2.2 million transformation.

The new Museum will provide fun and fascination for everyone. You can explore playing in different environments, from tree houses to cobbled streets. Be a chimney sweep or even a scullery maid. With inspirational collections from childhood, archive films and lots of things to do, it’s a great day out for everyone.

The Museum is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-5pm.

Blickling Hall, East of England

Visitors in the kitchens of Blickiling Hall, Norfolk

At Blickling Hall, Norfolk this year you will be able to hear what it was really like to be a servant living and working in a country house during the 1930's.

Our exciting new project will re-display the kitchen and service areas of this splendid Jacobean house as they may have been in the years running up to the Second World War. The project also offers a combination of audio commentaries from Blickling's archive and recording collections of the local community.

The house and gardens are now open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-5pm.

Crown Liquor Saloon, Northern Ireland

Carrying out vital conservation work on the interiors of the Crown Bar, Belfast.

With its brightly coloured ornate tile-and-glass interiors, period gas lighting and cosy snugs, this atmospheric hostelry is one of the finest examples of a High Victorian saloon still in existence in the UK. Restoration and conservation work has been carried out over the winter months in order to get the interiors restored to their former glory and show the splendour of this Victorian saloon in its best light.

The Crown Liquor Saloon is open all year round from 11.30am-11pm daily.

Quarry Bank Mill Garden, North West

The restored gardens of Quarry Bank Mill, Styal.

The first stage of an exciting 18th-century garden restoration project at Quarry Bank Mill Garden, Styal, one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites, has been revealed to visitors for the first time this year.

The Trust acquired the garden in November 2006 after it had been in careful private ownership for four decades. The first phase of a five year project to restore the garden is well underway, volunteers have been working hard to bring the 18th-century ‘picturesque’ valley garden back to life and make it accessible to the public.

Quarry Bank Mill Garden is now open daily from 11am-5pm.

Bodiam Castle, South East

The exterior of Bodiam Castle, Bodiam.

At Bodiam Castle a new exhibition will tell the story of Bodiam as a settlement from Roman to modern times. It will highlight the impressive estate that surrounded the castle in the Middle Ages and look at the archaeological research which has helped the National Trust to understand the site.

Bodiam Castle is open daily from 10.30am-6pm.

Red House, Thames and Solent

The exterior of Red House, Thames and Solent.

This year there are more reasons than ever to visit Red House, the first home of the Arts and Crafts movement. On display for the first time is an original Arts and Crafts table by Webb dating from the 1860's, which has only recently been acquired and a replica of the famous 'Daisy' wall hanging, originally made for Red House by William Morris's wife, Janey.

We have also opened one of Red House's rooms for the first time where visitors can browse amongst books, documents and papers relating to the house.

Red House is now open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am-4.45pm.

Plas Newydd, Wales

The dining room muriel created by Rex Whistler at Plas Newydd, Wales.

A new exhibition of theatre sets and costume designs by the celebrated artist Rex Whistler opens at Plas Newydd on Anglesey. Pride of place will be given to an enormous theatre backdrop, which is 15 feet long and has only rarely been seen in public since it was first used for a production of 'The Luck of the Devil' at the Player's Theatre in London in 1939.

Rex Whistler first came to Plas Newydd in 1936 when he was asked to decorate the dining room, which became his largest work at an incredible 58 feet long.

Plas Newydd is open from Saturday to Wednesday from 12pm-5pm.

Stourhead, Wessex

The interior of Stourhead House, Wiltshire.

To celebrate the opening of Stourhead House, Stourhead we will be hosting a new exhibition - 'Servants'. Due to open in early May, it will focus on what life was like for those who worked for the Hoare family at Stourhead before the Trust took over 61 years ago.

Visitors to the gardens will notice the restoration of the 18th century Gothic Cottage has been completed, as has the repair work to the dam.

Stourhead garden is open all year round from 9am-7pm and the house is now open from Friday to Tuesday from 11.30am-4.30pm.

Attingham Park, West Midlands

The Dining Rooom of Attingham Park, Shropshire.

During the winter months Attingham Park has been a hive of activity as the project to re-discover some of the mansion's Regency interiors continues.

Visitors to Attingham Park this year will see that the Dining Room is presented as it might have appeared during a sumptuous dinner party in the 1830s. The room is lit for evening and the table is extended to allow settings for 18 guests, using the 3rd Lord Berwick's Dagoty porcelain dessert services and a suite of gilt and ormolu dessert stands made by Pierre-Phillipe Thomire of Paris. The Octagon Room is soon to be restored too, to transform it to its early 19th century drama to be open to the public later in the year.

Attingham Park is open from Thursday to Tuesday, 1pm-5.30pm.

Treasurer's House, Yorkshire and the North East
