Our natural habitats

Mount Stewart estate hosts a number of natural habitats in which animals and plants can flourish. Three of our main habitats are wetland around the lake, grassland at Temple of the Winds and woodland, which is home to the red squirrel, throughout the estate.

The wetland areas and the lake are important features of nature conservation on the estate.

Most can be found in the formal grassland areas in front of the main house and around the lake.
