The Needles Old Battery has one of the National Trust's most unusual tea-rooms and certainly has some of its best views.

Don't be put off by the stark exterior of the refreshment kiosk at the Needles New Battery, situated next to the next to the bus turning point.

  • The Garlic Farm's onion & garlic marmalade is used in our ploughman's.
  • New Forest ice-cream uses milk from the island's Briddlesford Farm

Perfect for picnics

We have five picnic tables on the Parade Ground where you can sit and enjoy the view to the mainland. Or if you want to explore The Headland, take-away items are available from the tea-room or New Battery kiosk.

Food for all the family

Children are always welcome in our tea-room and high chairs are available if needed. We don't have a special children's menu but we do have special child-sized portions. And if you can't see exactly what you're looking for and would like something different, our catering team will do their very best to help you by adapting what's on offer.

The tea-room even opens on winter weekends

A lovely spot for a winter as well as a summer chat

As well as opening from 10.30am to 5pm every day of the summer, our tea-room at The Needles Old Battery is open most winter weekends too, even though the rest of the site is closed for maintenance. It's the perfect spot to stop for a drink or a snack if you're out walking on the headland.

Shopping

During the season a small shop in the guardroom sells souvenirs and postcards, pocket-money toys and gifts and confectionery. During the winter, postcards and some gifts are on sale in the tea-room.
