Coastguard Cottages

Perched high above Alum Bay on The Needles Headland is a row of former coastguard cottages now used as holiday lets.

Named after local shipwrecks, Pomone, Irex and Varvassi, each sleeps between 4 - 5 people. Access to the cottages is via a private road which follows the cliff from Alum Bay and winds upwards to a private parking area.

Sunset over The Needles

The Needles Headland takes it name from The Needles rocks, the most well-known view of the island.

The Coastguard Cottages are just a short stroll away from The Needles, so what better way to end the day than by watching the sun set over the rocks?

A bit further afield

Tennyson Monument

Step outside one of the cottages on to acres of downland waiting to be explored.

One of the most popular walks is along spectacular cliff tops to the Tennyson Monument, shown here looking back towards The Needles.
