Notice: We are currently repairing the machinery at Nether Alderley Mill. Tours will take place as usual this week (w/c 10/08) but the machinery will not be running. Our guides will still give lots of insights into the mill and we hope to have the machinery working again as soon as possible.

15th-century mill beside a tranquil mill pool

This charming rustic mill is one of only four virtually complete corn mills in Cheshire. Take a guided tour of Nether Alderley Mill, and learn all about the process of milling and hear fascinating stories about the lives of the millers.

Bringing down the roof

We worked hard between 2008-2012 to repair the mill's 300-ton, grit-stone roof and 600-year-old timber frame. With the help of a specialist millwright we spruced up the machinery inside.

What can you do?

No record survives of this miller; it could be his family initials

Even though Nether Alderley Mill is one of the National Trust's smaller treasures, it is still packed to the rafters with history.
